Tootsie is one of many dogs that I have picked up off the road over the last several years. All have been returned to their owners or were placed in new homes. Tootsie was one that won my heart and seemed to get along so well with my "four-legged" family that I knew she had found her home here with us. She and my male Fila, Rio, seemed to have an especially strong bond. He dearly missed his "girl" Alegra and it's possible Tootsie's fawn coloring had something to do with his affection for her. She has never been a problem in the house, but since, I assume, she had been fending for herself for some time she would drag home various "tasty morsels" to share with the family. Fortunately for us all, and especially the local turtle population (they all survived), it wasn't long before she felt secure that her meals would come twice a day, everyday, and she stopped hunting for food. Tootsie is approximately 6 years old (our best guess since I found her in 2001 and she was about 1 at that time). She is a great "little" dog and extremely comical at times.
